Florida registration numbers: what the rule says
- Numbers go on each side of the forward half of the boat (airboats can use each side of the rudder).
- Block characters at least 3 inches tall, in a solid color that contrasts with the background, such as dark on light or light on dark.
- Numbers read left to right and must stay clearly visible and legible.
- The validation decal goes on the port (left) side, within 6 inches before or after the number. On a documented vessel it goes on the port side and may be placed on a port-side window or windshield.
- Remove decals from previous years.
